ABOUT US
The Boston Organization of Nutritionists and Dietitians (BOND) of Color was formed in 1995 by African American and Afro Caribbean Nutritionists and Dietitians in the Greater Boston area. BOND’s mission is to provide nutrition education workshops and in-services that address cultural concerns around health disparities, food access, healthy eating and overall wellness. These nutrition services are offered to communities of color via virtual and in-person cooking lessons, health fairs, podcast, webinars, and organizational/family events.
Since its inception, BOND has become a beacon to communities of color and inspires hope that these health disparities can be reversed or even eliminated through proper diet and physical activity. BOND has since expanded its outreach and collaborated with many agencies such as The American Diabetes Association, Boston Public Health Commission, California Department of Public health, and The American Heart Association. BOND has also partnered with many local organizations such as churches, ABCD Headstart, Urban Farming Inst., Oldways, Co-Pad, Mattapan Food and Fitness Coalition and Boston Steps (to name a few) to promote affordable and accessible nutrition.
To address the concern of limited professionals in the field of nutrition and dietetics, our second goal is to offer support for fellow professionals and mentorship for future students of color entering into the field of Nutrition. BOND has close working relationships with Boston area colleges and universities to identify prospective students. To date, BOND members have supported several master level students who have moved on to work in other states and carry on BOND’s philosophy of mentorship.
